In a nutshell
This module provides a brief introduction to the FDT concept as a new silvicultural tool to design and manage diverse forests which better meet future challenges to British forestry in the context of climate change. The module consists of an indoor session and practical on-site exercises.
Prerequisite knowledge
- Basic understanding of forestry practice and/or undergraduate degree or equivalent
- Understanding of Site Conditions and Tree Species Selection
Learning outcomes
Delegates can explain the principles of the FDT concept. They are familiar with the structure of FDT flashcards and how to access and interpret information provided on FR Decision Support Systems (DSS). Delegates are confident to ground-truth information extracted from ESC DSS and decide about suitable FDT options on site.
